GOLDRAT RIVER SLUICING: A HISTORY

The early days of treasure mining in the Goldrat were defined by a distinctive method known as sluicing. Evolving from the requirement to extract coveted minerals from the heavily laden riverbeds, sluicing emerged as a widespread practice. Skilled miners would construct elaborate sluice boxes, carefully directing the river water to wash away the
